Some Youth Basketball Drills

I was thinking about approaches to seriously get my crew of young basketball players to really start enjoying themselves in practice and so I created some enjoyable basketball drills for kids. I began to ask myself, Ok you’re a kid, give me an idea beyond life? I would like to have fun. How they work is by playing. Secondly I must learn something. Lets face it nobody is going to get results as we just drive them in to the ground, this goes for everyone, but particularly for kids. So here’s what I did. I came up with a directory of things had to combine fun with regular fundamental basketball drills. I take advantage of these at the beginning of the begining of training then utilize them during the middle once i have to switch things up a little.

#1 Competitiveness

Separate the basketball players up and make them compete against one another inside drills. Do not just scrimmage them, have them cooperating in team skills tournaments. When the competition is done, have the losing group run two extra conditioning drills at the end of practice.

#2 Dual Step Passing Basketball Drill

Have one group around the left side of the court, one team around the right side of the basketball court. In groups of two players per team, ask them to progress the ball along the court by passing the ball to one another. The issue is they will take a maximum of a couple of steps at the same time. Count loudly, advance the ball, take two steps, pick up the ball, replicate. Winner will be the team who gets all of their line across the court first.

Third Drill – The Path
